KEVIN BEHRENS

Transportation Planner

As a Transportation Planner, Kevin coordinates regional and state-level (MnDOT-funded) transportation planning projects. He promotes active transportation initiatives, oversees Safe Routes to School planning, conducts walkability and health impact assessments, and supports sustainable transportation strategies. Kevin also facilitates the 19-member Transportation Advisory Council (TAC), playing a pivotal role in advancing the region’s development goals. His ability to balance diverse stakeholder interests and integrate transportation planning with environmental sustainability demonstrates his multidisciplinary expertise.
 
Kevin holds a degree in Environmental Sciences, Policy, and Management from the University of Minnesota. He served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Specialist. Over six years, including four deployments, he gained extensive technical expertise and was recognized as a subject matter expert in his field. Through the mentorship he received during his military career, Kevin developed vital skills such as leadership, project management, communication, and situational analysis—qualities that continue to serve him in his professional endeavors.
 
Kevin welcomes opportunities to collaborate on innovative projects and is eager to contribute his diverse skills to initiatives in our five-county region.
